Strategic Goals and Vision of the University

  • 1. Expanding education, research and the training of specialists in the Islamic humanities, and advancing the Qur'anic and hadith sciences, particularly among students of the religious seminaries.
  • 2. Developing and strengthening fundamental, strategic, applied and comparative research aimed at theory-building and knowledge production across various fields – the humanities, Islamic sciences, social sciences, and the sciences of the Qur'an and hadith – that the Muslim world needs, especially in the area of system-building based on religious knowledge.
  • 3. Indigenising the humanities on the basis of Islamic sources, with an emphasis on theoretical approaches and openings grounded in the idea of “jurisprudence of the system” and the knowledge of the Qur'an and hadith, in response to the questions of society, the Islamic system and the Muslim world.
  • 4. Advancing knowledge and understanding of Shia culture and the history and conduct of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and developing and promoting the Islamic–Iranian lifestyle, Islamic art and architecture and the like, with an emphasis on expanding religious dialogue and using the capacity of chairs of critique and theorising.
  • 5. Preaching, promoting and disseminating Islamic culture and the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) with a unifying (taqrib) approach, and strengthening Islamic solidarity with other Islamic schools of thought within a civilisation-building framework.
  • 6. Training upright and learned human resources needed by the specialist and management sectors of the country and of other Islamic countries.
  • 7. Strengthening the religious foundations of the younger generation in order to confront deviant currents such as false mysticism and misguided schools of thought.
  • 8. Strengthening and expanding the admission of transnational students – in person, blended, distance, electronic and open-learning modes – in order to meet the needs of Islamic societies and Muslims around the world.
  • 9. Cultivating civilisation-building elites and training graduates proficient in foreign languages, preparing them to preach and disseminate authentic Islamic thought and to meet the needs of Islamic societies worldwide.
  • 10. Creating new fields of study in the Islamic sciences and knowledge that address contemporary issues at the national and international levels and keep pace with sweeping developments in new sciences and technologies, such as artificial intelligence and cyberspace, in order to fill existing gaps.
