The University Staff Selection Unit

The selection process — that is, the work of the selection unit — begins with the referral of a candidate (an applicant for employment) by the personnel office or a similar administrative unit, and with the opening of a selection file. Opening a selection file means completing the personal-details form and submitting the required documents.

What is examined at the selection stage is the doctrinal, moral and political eligibility of persons subject to the Selection Act, from before entry until employment becomes definitive; this is done by reviewing their record and background in their places of residence, study and work, as well as by enquiry from the competent legal authorities and an in-person interview. In this review the selection units, in accordance with their statutory duty, seek to identify eligible persons and to report them to the administrative body as meeting the requirements (verification of the conditions of employment).

In short, the selection unit in universities plays an important role in maintaining and improving the quality of human resources and in safeguarding the interests of the University
